How do I use the Bonus Points eShop for shopping?

You can earn CommBank Awards Bonus Points when you log on via the CommBank app or NetBank or via the Awards site and shop online through the Bonus Points eShop with participating retailers. You need to be a CommBank Awards Member to earn Bonus Points through the Bonus Points eShop. Not a CommBank Awards Member? If you're not a CommBank Awards Member you can apply for a CommBank Awards credit card here

Do I need to be a CommBank Awards Member to earn Bonus Points when I shop through the  Bonus Points eShop?

Yes, you need to be a member of the CommBank Awards program to earn eShop Bonus Points.  If you hold an active CommBank Awards credit card then you are a CommBank Awards Member. As long as you have logged on to the Bonus Points eShop account via the CommBank app or NetBank or via the Awards site you’ll earn Bonus Points when you make a purchase on a retailer’s site accessed through the  Bonus Points eShop.

Can I purchase from the Bonus Points eShop if I am not a CommBank Awards Member?

You can browse the Bonus Points eShop without being a member, however, you’ll need to log on to your Bonus Points eShop account via the CommBank app or NetBank or via the Awards site as a CommBank Awards Member to earn Bonus Points for purchases from participating retailers. Not a CommBank Awards Member? Apply for a CommBank Awards credit card at commbank.com.au/commbankawards

Earning Bonus Points

How do I start shopping and earning eShop Bonus Points?

  • You can log on to the Bonus Points eShop via the CommBank app or NetBank or via the Awards site
  • Make sure your cookies are turned on in order for your purchases to be tracked to earn Bonus Points.
  • Choose a retailer you want to shop with and click the ‘Shop now’ button.
  • Remember, you must log on to the Bonus Points eShop via the CommBank app or NetBank or via the Awards site and click through to the retailer’s site every time you shop for us to track your purchases and earn Bonus Points.

Which CommBank Awards credit card do my eShop Bonus Points get credited to?

If you have more than one CommBank Awards credit card, Bonus Points will be awarded to the newest active account, irrespective of the card used.

Is it more expensive to shop via the Bonus Points eShop?

No, you will not spend any more by using our site – and you’ll get the benefit of earning Bonus Points! You’ll click through to the retailer’s normal website so it’s the same price as going there directly.

If I am a member of a retailer’s own loyalty program will I still earn CommBank Awards Bonus Points?

Yes, you will still earn eShop Bonus Points if you log on and shop online through the Bonus Points eShop with participating retailers, but we would advise that you don’t go ahead with any items that you have previously saved to your cart – this could affect receiving your Bonus Points. It’s best to start your shopping directly from the Bonus Points eShop. 

I logged on to my Bonus Points eShop Account and made purchases via the Bonus Points eShop, but my transactions aren't showing up in my Account - what's going on?

  • It takes up to 5 working days for a purchase to display as ‘Pending’.
  • It may be that the web browser used at the time of purchase had cookies disabled. Cookies allow us to track your purchase - without them there’s no way for the system to allocate Bonus Points to your Account. Read more about cookies.

My cookies are enabled but my purchases still aren’t showing up in my Account?

Here are some best practice guidelines to help make sure you receive your Bonus Points:

  • Make sure you log on to your Bonus Points eShop account via NetBank or the CommBank app or via the Awards site before clicking on the ‘Shop now’ button in the Bonus Points eShop
  • Complete your purchase online, all in one session.
  • If you decide after check out that you want to purchase something else, close the retailer site window and start the process again, starting from the Bonus Points eShop.
  • Don't retrieve previously saved items in your shopping cart; start completely from scratch by signing in from the Bonus Points eShop and clicking “Shop now”.
  • Don’t click on another banner or website promoting the retailer before you complete your transaction. If you must visit another site before completing your purchase, please use a different browser to do so. Interrupting the browser session that started from the Bonus Points eShop can affect tracking.
  • Don't use "refer a friend" programs, again this changes the referrer.
  • Calling the retailer to complete or modify your order will likely override the Bonus Points eShop tracking (and therefore your Bonus Points).
  • Increasingly some internet security and ad blocking software programs prevent the special tracking codes we need to track your purchases, so please disable your program before using the Bonus Points eShop.

Why have my Bonus Points been cancelled?

Bonus Points can be cancelled for a number of reasons. The most common are:

  • You have returned the products you purchased to the retailer.
  • Your payment failed.
  • Your last click with this retailer didn’t come from the Bonus Points eShop.
  • Your transaction didn’t meet the retailer’s Terms and Conditions.
  • If a coupon code is used that is not listed on the Bonus Points eShop, no Bonus Points will be earned.

I forgot to sign in to the Bonus Points eShop before shopping with a retailer. Can I still have my Bonus Points?

Sorry, but we’re unable to allocate Bonus Points for any purchases that did not originate from the Bonus Points eShop. Always access the Retailer’s website via the Bonus Points eShop so we can track your visit and award points.

Are my Bonus Points immediately credited to my Bonus Points eShop Account?

  • When you buy something from a retailer, the transaction will appear in your Bonus Points eShop Transaction History as ’Pending’ within 5 working days.
  • We'll confirm the transaction with the Retailer before updating the transaction status to 'Approved' (i.e. the retailer is satisfied the transaction is complete and you’ve received the goods). Most purchases will be approved within 30 days, but some retailers may take up to 60 days, and are subject to the retailer's Terms & Conditions.
  • Once ‘Approved’ the Bonus Points will appear in your Bonus Points eShop transaction history within 24 hours and will be added to your CommBank Awards points balance on the following business day.

How do I know how many Bonus Points I'll earn?

The Bonus Points eShop will clearly outline how many Bonus Points you'll earn for purchases with participating retailers. In most cases, this will be expressed as a number of Bonus Points earned per $1 spent at the retailer.

  • For example, if the retailer is offering 5 Bonus Points per $1 spent, and your net transaction total is $50 (excluding any GST, overseas taxes and shipping) you can expect to receive 250 Bonus Points. This is in addition to the CommBank Awards points you would normally earn when paying with your CommBank Awards credit card.
  • In another example, you may not earn Bonus Points per $1 spent, but rather a certain number of Bonus Points for a single purchase, or by registering for a service with that retailer. In this instance, you'll receive the stated number Bonus Points for that one action, but not for subsequent actions or purchases on that retailer's site.

Will I earn Bonus Points for delivery, shipping or tax included in my transaction?

Points are not earned on shipping or, in most cases, on GST or any taxes.

Can I see my Bonus Points in my eShop account transaction history?

Yes.You can see your Bonus Points once they are tracked as ‘Pending’, ‘Approved’ or ‘Cancelled’ within your ‘Account’ area.

Why have I earned more or less Bonus Points with the same retailer?

The number of Bonus Points you can earn can go up or down, and some retailers may have special Bonus Points offers from time to time. The number of Bonus Points you can earn is always displayed on the Bonus Points eShop so remember to check to know how many points you’ll earn.

There's an online shop I visit frequently, but it's not part of the Bonus Points eShop. Can I get it added?

We're constantly adding and looking for new retailers, so if you know of a great online service or shop that you'd like to see added to our growing list, please let us know and we’ll consider adding it.

What happens if I cancel a purchase I’ve made or want a refund?

You can cancel purchases directly with the retailer, subject to the retailer’s terms and conditions. However, you will not earn Bonus Points for any cancelled or refunded orders. If you cancel a purchase after points have been applied, the Bonus Points will be deducted from your account.

I was interested in a retailer who is no longer listed, can you tell me why?

From time to time retailers may decide they no longer wish to participate in the Bonus Points eShop and offer Bonus Points to members. When this happens, we thank them for participating and remove them from our listings.

How are Bonus Points calculated on overseas purchases?

Any purchase made in a foreign currency will be converted to AUD at an exchange rate set by Collinson Group Pty Ltd at the time of calculating Bonus Points. Points are always calculated based on a purchase price (as per specific retailers terms and conditions) in AUD. Note that the amount charged in AUD to your credit card may be different as the exchange rate used for that is set by the credit card scheme (or sometimes the retailer).

How many normal CommBank Awards points will I earn when shopping with overseas retailers?

If you pay using your CommBank Awards Mastercard/Visa card you will earn:

  • Diamond Awards: 1.25 points per $1 spent
  • Platinum Awards: 1 point per $1 spent
  • Gold Awards*: 1 point per $1 spent
  • Awards: 1 point per $1 spent

*Gold Awards cards are no longer available for sale.

This is in addition to the Bonus Points you will earn by shopping at retailer through the Bonus Points eShop.

If you’re shopping on an international website, log on to the CommBank app or NetBank or via the Awards website to check that you’ve unlocked online international payments before you make a purchase. Note you may be charged an international transaction fee.

What International Transaction Fee will I pay when using my CommBank Awards card?

You’ll be charged an international transaction fee when:

  • you make a purchase (or obtain a cash advance) that is converted by Mastercard or Visa from a foreign currency to Australian dollars; or
  • you make a purchase (or obtain a cash advance) in Australian dollars while overseas, or while in Australia (for example shopping online) where the merchant, or the financial institution or entity processing the transaction, is located overseas.

Visit CommBank’s international transaction fee FAQ page for more details. In some cases, overseas online merchants may allow you to pay in Australian dollars. This is still considered an international transaction because your transaction is processed overseas.

Note: Even though a merchant has a website address ending in ‘.com.au’ and displays prices in Australian dollars, they may still be located overseas or otherwise choose to process their credit card payments outside of Australia. It’s best to check with the merchant before you pay if you are unsure.

Redeeming points

Can I redeem CommBank Awards points to purchase products directly from the Bonus Points eShop?

No, at this time, CommBank Awards points cannot be redeemed through the Bonus Points eShop. Any points earned through the Bonus Points eShop will be allocated to your CommBank Awards account and can be redeemed for over 1,000 Awards within the CommBank Awards Program.

Will I be contacted by any of your retailers?

The Bonus Points eShop will not share any of your personal information with our retailers. Please note though that when you click a ‘Shop now’ link to a retailer, you will leave the Bonus Points eShop completely and be subject to that Retailer’s Terms & Conditions. If you share your details with a retailer, they may contact you.

What’s a cookie?

A cookie is a small piece of data used by web servers to help identify web users. Cookies can be turned on and off by you at any time in your web browser menu.  Cookies allow us to track your purchases with participating retailers and allocate your Bonus Points.

How are cookies used at the Bonus Points eShop for Shopping?

We use cookies to track Bonus Points eShop transactions so that we can credit your CommBank Awards account with Bonus Points for any purchases made with participating retailers. The retailers’ websites records your transaction using cookies, and then passes that information back to us. We then use this to match it back to your details so we can allocate Bonus Points to your  account.

How can I check my cookies are turned on?

In Google Chrome, open the browser:

  • Click the Chrome menu icon
  • Select “Settings”
  • Near the bottom of the page, click “Show advanced settings”
  • In the “Privacy” section, click “Content settings”
  • Select “Allow local data to be set (recommended)”

In Firefox, you open up the browser then:

  • Go to "Tools"
  • Select "Options"
  • Under "Privacy", select "Accept cookies from sites", hit "Ok."

In Safari, you open up the browser then:

  • Go to "Edit",
  • Select "Preferences",
  • Under the "Security" tab in the "Allow Cookies" section, select "Only sites you navigate to", hit "Ok."

In Internet Explorer, you open up the browser then:

  • Go to "Tools",
  • Select "Options",
  • Under "Privacy" move the settings slider to "Medium" or lower, hit "Ok."

How do I update my personal details?

You may review and update the personal information you provide by signing in to your Bonus Points eShop account and selecting ‘Account’. Please note that any updates you make to your personal information in your Bonus Points eShop account will only be reflected in your Bonus Points eShop account and not in any other accounts you hold with CommBank.
